First, let's consider women's plus size bras. Please take the time to be properly fitted for them. There is truly nothing tackier looking on a plus-size woman than a bra that is ill-fitting.
Take the time to actually try the bra on-put it on, and bend over, filling the cups with your cleavage. Then use the slider on the straps to adjust the cups so that both of them are even with each other. If necessary, get professionally fitted.
Plus size panties are another important part of the woman's outfit. This is true because quite often panties are worn too tight and as a result a panty line shows across the woman's rear. For those women who are trying to impress, a panty line certainly does not do that.
Panties for any woman, including plus size women, are sized by the hip measurement. Of course, different brands have different sizes, so pay attention to various sizes. Then ensure that the size you buy is not too tight!
Let's talk about stripes. Stripes can be as asset if they are used properly-or they can make a plus sized person look even larger, depending on where they are.
For instance, the biggest stripe no-no in particular is broad stripes going across the chest area. There is an optical illusion that occurs, especially for large busted women-and the area that is already large appears even larger.
Stripes however, can be used to your advantage by turning them vertically. Seriously, by simply picking stripes that are running vertically, such as pinstripes in a nice formal suit a plus size person will appear thinner.
Blouses, and suit jackets should not be too tight, but still emphasize your best features. Look for empire waist, which means the waist is right below the cleavage, and will hide most of a plus size woman's belly.
Another option is to go for the natural waist look, which like the empire waist is higher up than most waistlines. This brings the eye up, away from the lower part of the body where a plus size person may have too many extra pounds-and the natural waistline will help hide them.
Blouses should also not be too tight through the chest area-so that there is no gap, to begin with. Additionally, cap sleeves are a particular no-no for plus size women.
Cap sleeves, for those who don't know, are sleeves that literally cap off the very top of your arm. What's the big deal? Women who have very flabby, fat arms make their arms look even flabbier and fatter by using a cap sleeve-so skip them.
Sleeves do not have to extremely long to benefit a plus size woman. As a matter of fact, three quarter sleeves-these only come down to approximately your forearm-are prettiest when they are slightly loose. Sleeves like this will accentuate the blouse in total, not just the arm, and the eye of onlookers will take in the whole picture.
Pants are another important part of the plus size women's clothes. Elasticized pants are out, as they make plus size people look like pieces of fruit.
Darts can be used, but they need to be placed carefully. Pleated pants actually look better. Better yet, if you can find pants with a tummy panel in them to give you that really 'tight' effect, go for it.
Color is also another important aspect to buying clothes. Here are a few good rules of thumb to know:
Darker colors do make you look thinner-but don't wear so much that you look like you are at a funeral all the time!
Dark colors on which ever area you use it, will really take the pounds off-especially the bottom area. Bright colors are great for accents-but definitely not for pants in women's plus size clothes!
