The first major problem that I have seen appears to be some form of denial. When you have reached the point where you need to buy a larger size do not, I repeat, do not wear clothes that are too small for you! You may think that you are fooling people by wearing a smaller size, but you are not. All that people will see is a woman wearing clothing that does not fit and the entire look only makes you look larger.
The opposite is also true. Do not dress in clothing that is too large for your body. This will really create the illusion of you being larger than you are. How many women have you seen sporting the baggy look? Look at the name "BAGGY", is that how you want people to see you?
Always dress by fit not size. Size is just an arbitrary number assigned by some designer or manufacturer. It does not mean a thing it is only a guide. Try to accentuate your shape with properly fitting clothing.
Another common mistake you will see is a combination of low cut jeans and a shirt that barely reaches the belt line. Think about this for a moment. Every time you raise your arms or reach for something the shirt raises exposing your belly area. If you are trying to cover this area, this style does not work. I do not think I need to elaborate on what happens when you need to bend and pick something up. I am sure you can visualize it on your own.
Instead, try wearing jeans that are high enough to cover your waists and a nice flowing blouse or sweater. With these combinations, you are free to move as you please without exposing more than you want.
How many of you have ever observed a woman wearing a clingy fabric? This is an extreme No! No! Wear clothing that will flow with your body and you will not have to worry about your shirt exaggerating every wrinkle and roll.
Do not wear any skirt that is wider than it is long. This sounds very simple right. Look around next time you are out and you will see what I am talking about. Anything that is shorter than it is wide will only enhance the illusion of width. Pants with a tapered cut create the same problem.
Spandex is your worst enemy. How many times have you seen a plus size woman wearing spandex? Why would you want to wear spandex? It will expose every roll and embarrassing feature that you do not want others to see. Spandex should only be worn by someone in the gym. Realistically, what else is it good for?
There is not one single reason for any woman, regardless of size, to dress in a manner that makes her look bad. Today's styles are including all different body types. Take the time and look at all of the looks you can create. Accept who you are and become the natural beauty you are capable of becoming.
