Understanding the in and Out of Plus Size Clothing

Wholesale plus size clothing primarily helps obese men and women to avail the discount benefits of bulk manufacturing in case of sizes that do not fall under the gamut of "regular size".

Plus size apparels refer to those ladies apparels that have sizes of 16 in UK or 14 in US and over XL in case of men. Compared to other regular sizes, this is a new segment of clothing and its market has also grown considerably in the last century. Now, there are a number of manufacturers who are solely dedicated towards producing plus size apparels for "regular" size brands of clothes. There are a number of stores as well that specialize in plus size apparels.

Early Hardships

Before the early 1900s, most of the people stitched their own clothes or got them tailored for accommodating various sizes. But, today the times are of industrialization and premade clothing. Also, the popular inclination during most part of the past century has been towards fitting clothes rather than clothes having blousy appearance. Hence, this resulted in people with larger body sizes to face problems while buying clothes for them.

Wholesale Rocks

Retailing is one of the most successful concepts that human beings have ever discovered. Wholesale production of plus size clothing by specialized manufacturers gets forwarded to malls or wholesalers who only deal in plus size apparels. This has created a good market for this segment as well.

Plus Sizes

Sizes of apparels in this segment cannot be easily understood as they tend to vary from one manufacturer to another. Some of these plus size apparels are marked as ladies clothing with a W following the size number. Sizes can range from anywhere between 12W and 14W to 30W or even more. These sizes skip odd numbers and do not cover 13s or 15s. But, an exception to this rule is teen plus size clothing that are marked with odd numbers. Plus size apparels may also be designated as Xs such as 1X, 2X, 3X and so on. Here 1X refers to 14W-16W, 2X refers to 18W-20W and so on.

Manufacturers employ their own measurements for determining plus sizes leading to inter-manufacturer variations in these sizes.
