Plus Size Women - How to Love Your Body When You Can't Stand It!

Research shows that nearly 4 out of 5 women hate their bodies. Are you one of them, picking at flaws and focusing endlessly on imperfections? Diet organizations feed on that kind of insecurity and fear, happily encouraging you into believing that something is wrong with you, especially if you're a plus size gal.

The thing that nobody has ever told you is that your stinking thinking has actually been making you fatter. Since your body and mind are interconnected, your body recognizes how you feel about it. When you think loving thoughts, you feel lovable. When you think negative thoughts, you feel hateful. As long as you think harmful thoughts about yourself, your weight, your body, your relationship to food, you and your body will always be in a stand off. Self acceptance is the key to unlock your personal transformation.

As long as you stubbornly refuse to accept your body and continue to hate it, it will stubbornly hate you back by refusing to budge, keeping you stuck, fooling you into thinking that you are insatiably hungry all the time, preventing you from being able to stop eating on your own, which inhibits your ability to naturally eat less and gradually get slimmer. If you can't love your body now, despite how it looks, love it for its function.

Realize that your stomach may be flabby but without it you wouldn't be able to enjoy eating wonderful food. You wouldn't be able to digest that food and feel nourished. That's your stomach.

Remember that those legs that you profess to hate, carry you around all day, every day, maybe you use them to run, or walk or stand and water your plants. No matter how difficult it may be to like what you see, remember that they keep you solidly grounded and moving through life. Those are your legs.

Keep in mind that those arms that you may call, "batwings" are the same ones that may have held your first child, embraced your lover, given and received many wonderful bear hugs. Those are your arms.

Today begin to appreciate and thank each and every one of your body parts for its resiliency, function and loyalty. It's always been there for you, and never abandoned you. Isn't it time that you showed it a little love in return?

Here are a few quick tips to get you on the road to self acceptance:

1. Think of the excess weight on your body as being a suit of armor, protecting your younger self. Feel compassion for that little girl in you and recognize that she needs love too.

2. Make a list of your best qualities and achievements. Are you a great listener, a loyal friend, a smart cookie? Remind yourself often of your assets.

3. Stop weighing yourself. Reclaim your power from that miserable piece of scrap metal and step away the scale.

4. Wear clothes in flattering colors and styles that really fit you right now. Find local stores that carry plus sizes that are fashionable and comfortable.

5. Search online and find plus size women who have a look that you admire and take some fashion and style tips from them.

6. With the loving care and attention of one who loves you, start touching your body, caressing yourself, especially those parts that gross you out. Spread some love and remember that little girl in you, is in you.

In order to be a curvy and confident woman, remind yourself that you deserve love and affection because you're already lovable and worthy.
